Draft Cultural Strategy 2018-2021

Consultation Homepage

Harrow’s cultural offer is reflected in its heritage and its rich mix of communities, ethnicities and faiths. Every week there are cultural, creative and artistic events and activities being delivered by Harrow’s businesses, community and voluntary groups, faith groups, schools and at larger venues by West House, Bentley Priory Museum, and Harrow Arts Centre.

People attend shows and participate in dance, drama, art and music because they enjoy it. There is evidence that involvement in artistic and cultural activities improves mental and physical health, addresses social isolation and promotes community cohesion.

The adoption and implementation of a Cultural Strategy will help promote access to and involvement in cultural and artistic activities, and maximise opportunities to improve health through artistic and creative activity.

The creative sector is also a generator of jobs and economic growth. At a time of economic uncertainty, Harrow’s Cultural Strategy aims to support the growth of our creative sector and also to promote our town centre and district centres as places for entertainment, which in turn will attract footfall and spend.

Harrow’s Draft Cultural Strategy outlines a vision for the borough, that was developed in a series of meetings which included the GLA, Harrow’s Cultural Forum, Councillors, & Cross Council workshops.

This consultation exercise aims to capture not just your views on the strategy but more importantly to provide you with an opportunity to say what role you or your organisation can play in developing cultural, creative and artistic life in Harrow.

I like forward to hearing from you.
