Transport can be a source of harmful emissions which contribute to air pollution. Ultra-low emission vehicles, such as electric and plug-in hybrid cars and vans, can help to reduce the level of harmful pollutants in our air. Harrow Council is committed to supporting the uptake of electric vehicles to reduce transport-related emissions and improve air quality.

An increasing number of residents and businesses in Harrow use electric vehicles, and many residents do not have access to off-street parking. To support the growing demand for electric vehicles, Harrow Council intends to install a number of on-street electric vehicle charging points across the borough. A range of standard lower speed and rapid charging units will be provided to cater for the needs of residents, visitors and businesses in the borough.

The locations for new electric vehicle charging points will be selected using criteria which include:

  • demand from residents or businesses for charging points
  • direct requests via email and known locations of EV owners
  • proximity to key destinations (e.g. town centres)
  • parking demand in the local area
  • proximity to the strategic road network
  • strategic borough-wide coverage
  • technical site-specific requirements (such as distance from the electricity supply network)

Please complete this survey to help us understand the current and future levels of demand for electric vehicle charging in Harrow.
