A group of Harrow organisations, including the Young Harrow Foundation, are working together to help Harrow get more people, more active, more often.  This is your chance to say how Harrow could be a borough which helps everyone get more active.

Experts recommend adults do 20-30 mins each day to stay fit and healthy and children aged 5-18 should be doing an hour a day. Under 5s should be moving for at least 3 hours a day.  In Harrow 30% of adults are doing less than 30 minutes activity a week and only 14% of 15 year olds are active enough.

This is a factor which has led to 1 in 3 adults and 21% of children over 10 years of age being obese. In Harrow we have one of highest rate of Type 2 diabetes and the highest rate of pre-diabetes.  We know being active improves our mental health and would help us address the high rates of social isolation affecting older people but also affecting an increasing number of younger people potentially driven by their addiction to social media.

We are fortunate that Harrow has 28 parks (one of the highest proportion of green spaces in London), 23 outdoor gyms, 37 allotments sites, 61 school with activities facilities and more.

Together we can use these great spaces to inspire and empower our community to get active everyday and reduce the health issues we are facing. To do this we are bidding for money to help create the environments, activities and sports opportunities that will get Harrow people active as a normal part of their daily routine.

This is where you come in; the link below is to a survey where we are aiming for 20,000 people to tell us what they want. This is a chance for you, your friends, your family, your work colleagues and your network to tell us what activities, sports or changes to the environment you would like to see in Harrow which would help you get more active.
